Prakash Chakravarthi
Prakash Chakravarthi co-founded Aqleo in 2009 to develop and deliver high value information and analytics for water management systems. Worldwide, water is becoming an increasingly scarce resource. Water information management systems that include distribution networks will play a critical role in water management by utilities and government agencies. Driven by population growth, decrease in household size, environmental changes and economic development, water shortages are becoming increasingly common in many parts of the world. In turn, utilities have to increasingly focus on achieving efficiencies in distribution and metering of water. Poor efficiencies are extremely common in the water industry in multiple respects – the global average for Non-Revenue Water (NRW), which is pumped but unbilled water is 35%, making rapid change an immediate imperative in the water industry.
Prakash has more than twenty years of leadership, technical and management experience with companies designing systems and solutions. He was the President and CEO of Eka Systems Inc. since founding until March 2009. He led Eka Systems through its early days and into its growth phase building a strong team of domain experts from networking technology and utility industries. Eka Systems was sold to Cooper Power in April 2010.
He is the author of several patents and technical papers in wireless technology and served as the Associate editor for IEEE Aerospace and Electronics Systems Magazine from 1994 - 2000. Prior to Eka, he worked at Comsat Corporation and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratories on a Research Fellowship from the National Research Council. He is deeply committed to environmental issues and preventing increasing species extinction.
